Former captain Moin Khan has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to allow Indian Cricket League (ICL) contracted players to play domestic cricket.
The PCB has banned Inzamam-ul-Haq, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Imran Farhat, Shabbir Ahmed and Taufiq Umar - all ICL players - from taking part in domestic matches in the country. And Farhat has already decided to take legal action against the decision.
The board's policy hasn't gone down well with Moin, who is the coach of Hyderabad Heroes in the ICL, and he has asked the PCB to rethink their stance.
Moin told the Post: "What is so big about this ICL?
"Don't players take part in many such privately organised Twenty20 competitions which are not sanctioned by the board?
"I say as long as the ICL does not clash or disturb international commitments of players, there is nothing wrong with it.
"More importantly, the ICL has never stopped anyone from playing for his country. So what is the big fuss?"
PCB has adopted the Board of Control for Cricket in India's approach to ICL but Moin doesn't believe that should be the case.
"I don't think our board should follow the policies of the Indian board," the former Pakistan wicketkeeper said.
"The Indian cricket officials might have a problem with the ICL but that is their internal problem. Why should our board be harsh on our players who are committing no crime?
